Rabindranath Tagore was a great poet, composer, writer and painter. Rabindranath Tagore was born on 7 May 1861 at Jorasanko Haveli in Kolkata. Rabindranath Tagore is also known as Gurudev. He wrote his first poem at just eight years old.

Tagore was married to Mrinalini Devi in 1883. His wife later received higher education and went to England to study. He also translated some books.
Rabindranath Tagore started the movement against Viceroy of India Lord Curzon's policy 'Divide and Rule' from Kolkata on 16 October 1905. He died on 7 August 1941 in Kolkata.

Rabindranath Tagore was the first person whose compositions are sung in two countries as the national anthem. One is "Jana Gana Mana" of India and the other is "Amar Shonar Bangla" of Bangladesh. But many people do not know that he also wrote the national anthem "Sri Lanka Math" for Sri Lanka which was translated into Sinhalese in 1951 and made it the national anthem.
One of Tagore's popular books is 'The King of the Dark Chamber'. Which was auctioned in the US last year for seven hundred dollars (about 45 thousand rupees). The book was published in 1916 by the Macminal Company, which is an English translation of Tagore's Hindi play 'Raja'. The story of this play is related to a mysterious king.
Rabindranath Tagore was the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1913 for his work "Geetanjali". Tagore's world famous work "Geetanjali" is a collection of 157 poems and was published in 1910.
There is also a digital collection of 3,500 poems by Rabindranath Tagore. The special thing is that there are 15 such poems in this collection, which were read by Tagar himself. Speakers have recited 245 poems.
