This company became known for its way of doing business, but even more it became known when it stepped on India and did business here for a long time. The way it expanded its presence in India by strengthening its hold on the Mughals, it cannot be forgotten.
It also saw the time in its journey, when its sting rang all around. Call it the fate of the company or something, but on its own, it has captured many states. In such a situation, the question arises how the East India Company came to India.
Who was that person, whose efforts laid the foundation of East India in India.
Let us know -
Story started from the port of Surat
It must have been around 1600, when some British merchants took permission from Queen Elizabeth of England to do business in India. A company was needed for trade, so a company called East India Company was formed.
With full preparation in the sequel, a ship named 'Hector' was sent from England to India in 1608. The captain of this ship was named Hawkins. First of all, this ship stopped at the port of Surat. At that time Surat used to be a major trading center of India. India was here due to the Hawkins trade, so he went to the then ruling Mughal emperor Jahangir as an ambassador and attended.
Since he came as the ambassador of the Emperor of England, Jahangir gave a special welcome to the guest according to Indian tradition. Also honored by awarding him. Probably, at that time, Jahangir must have been unaware that the descendants of the same community, the English nation of which he is honoring, would rule India and salute our rulers and the public by kneeling before them.

The Portuguese were a challenge for the British!
Since the Portuguese had come to India before the British arrived… They had also influenced Jahangir, so the biggest challenge before the Hawkings was how to get them out of their way.
For this, he started instigating Jahangir against the Portuguese.
Initially he had a problem, but gradually he managed his plan. Not only this, he was also successful in getting some special facilities and rights from Jahangir. Soon afterwards the Hawkings looted the Portuguese ships. In fact, he wanted to halt the Portuguese trade in Surat at the earliest, so that his path could be cleared.
In this episode, on 6 February 1663, he got Emperor Jahangir to issue a royal decree. Under this, the British got permission to do business by building a factory in Surat. At the same time, Jahangir also allowed that an English ambassador could remain in his court, under which 'Sir Thomas Roe' came to India in 1615 as an ambassador.
Thomas Rowe's strategy worked
Thomas Rowe had guessed that the Portuguese would cause problems in their trade as soon as they reached India. Why all the other British officers knew this matter. This is probably why Thomas Roe was called to India.
He was famous all over Britain for his diplomacy.
It was said about him that he was very close since the beginning of Queen Elizabeth of England. In 1597, he became a confidant of Queen Elizabeth I as soon as he joined the Middle Temple.
Realizing his responsibility, 'Ro' soon started his work. First of all, he understood the whole matter very well and then made a plan to remove the obstacles. In his assessment, he found that if he had to do business in India, he would have to get a royal decree again. For this, he enlisted the help of Hawkings and reached Jehangir's court. He was successful in wooing Jahangir with his speech skills there.
Through his dialogue he was able to convince Jahangir that the British were more powerful than the Portuguese. He will not only do business with greater profits to Indians, but will also give them security. Jahangir liked his point and it was decided between the two that the company would be given privileges for business.
Thus Roe succeeded in acquiring exclusive rights for the East India Company from 1615 to 1618.

… .And started British factory!
As soon as the East India Company got privileges, they started setting up their own factories. Factories were opened one after the other in Ahmedabad, Berhampur, Agra and Surat. The area of Bengal was adjacent to the coast, so it was also selected for trade and factories were also established here.
Gradually, the dominance of the East India Company increased throughout India. In this way, the company for which the Portuguese used to have trouble, that company was firmly established in India, ending their domination. Further history is witness to how fast this company spread its feet.
It is said that all the years that the East India Company stayed in India remained profitable.
No one ever thought about a company coming to India with a small capital, that it will rule here for two hundred years. Actually, this had never happened before.

Today, all the old buildings, trains, factories, etc. are seen, most of them are of the British era. He made it for his convenience, which still survives to this day.
The train can also be seen as the best example. Today, the traffic of this country is largely dependent on it. However, in the coming days, the British enslaved India, but in this article the talk is only about the East India Company having its feet in India… so please let us know about your priceless response to this
